Gas Water Heater

Problem:

Not enough hot water

Water takes too long to get hot

Hot water is loud

Pilot light will not stay lit

Solution:

· The thermostat may be too low, increase the temperature.

· There may be lime of sediment in the tank.

· Low gas pressure.

· The thermostat may be set too low.

· Make sure there is not a leak, otherwise the tank will need to be replaced.

· Steam pocket occurred.

· Sediment in the tank.

· Low water pressure.

· Condensation can build up and drip onto the burner.

· Make sure that the thermocouple is connected to the thermostat.

· Make sure that the thermocouple is secured near the pilot light.

· Thermocouple may have failed or is faulty.

· Condensation may be extinguishing the pilot light.

· Dirt or air may be in the gas line.

· Pilot light may be clogged.

· Make sure gas is on.

Drain valve is leaking

· Use slip joint pliers to turn valve all the way closed.

· Determine whether or not the leak is due to condensation.

· Tank may need to be replaced if leak continues.

· The water temperature may be too high you will need to turn it down.

· The water pressure may be too high.

· The valve is faulty and needs to be replaced.

· The condensation can disrupt the external ventilation and condensation of the water heater.
